On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the crackdown of the Punjab Police is continuing rapidly across the province in connection with the drug-free Punjab campaign and to keep the young generation safe from drugs. Under the supervision of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, RPOs, DPOs are working day and night to eradicate the scourge of drugs. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that in the last one day, Punjab Police conducted 324 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province including Lahore, registered 120 FIRs against the accused involved in the heinous trade and arrested 125 accused. 74 kgs of charas, 02 kilos of heroin, 05 kilos of opium and 1452 liters of liquor were recovered.

Regarding the details of the special campaign going on from the last 50 days in various districts including Lahore, the spokesman of Punjab Police said that during the last 50 days, more than 15 thousand raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers, 7625 suspects were arrested while registering 7167 cases against drug dealers, 4971 kg of charas,, 90 kg of heroin, 215 kg of opium, 26 kg of Ice, 97676 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the atrocious accused who lure the young generation to drugs do not deserve any concession, all the accused involved in the supply chain, consumption and spread if drugs should be brought under the grip of the law and severely punishedÛ”
