On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police  have accelerated the crackdown for drug free Punjab.
In the last 24 hours, 297 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province, 165 accused were arrested, 159 cases were registered, spokesperson of Punjab Police.

On the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, police are in action across the province for  drug-free Punjab campaign and under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, intelligence-based operations against drug dealers are ongoing, as a result of which hundreds of culprits have been arrested. Spokesman Punjab Police said that in the last 24 hours, 297 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province including Lahore, 165 accused involved in the nefarious drug business were arrested while 159 cases were registered while 94 kilos of charas, 432 grams of Ice and 1881 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused.

Spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that 15,962 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers throughout the province during the special campaign commenced on 26th February, 8097 accused were arrested while registering 7623 cases against drug dealers, 5220 kg charas, 95 kg of heroin, more than 26 kg of ice, 216 kg of opium, 102816 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar gave the task to the supervisory officers to root out the drug supply chain. IG Punjab said that targeted operations against the accused involved in the online business of modern narcotic drugs should be expedited and those who spoil the future of the young generation should be severely punished.
