On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police accelerated the crackdown to root out the menace of drugs

On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police has intensified the crackdown across the province to eradicate the scourge of drugs and under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, intelligence-based targeted operations have been accelerated for the Drug Free Punjab campaign. During the special campaign launched 2 months ago, 17801 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers throughout the province, 8381 cases were registered against the anti-social elements involved in the drug business and 8878 accused were arrested. 5802 kg of charas, more than 29 kg of Ice, 100 kg of heroin, 216 kg of opium and 111079 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused.

 

Spokesman of Punjab Police said that in the last 24 hours, 250 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province, including Lahore, 119 suspects involved in drug trade were arrested and 114 cases were registered against them. 53 kg of charas, 02 kg of heroin, 01 kg of Ice, and 1645 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed the RPOs and DPOs to speed up anti-narcotics operations. IGP Punjab directed that the special teams should bring all the suspects involved in the supply chain of drugs, including smugglers and dealers to justice. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that severe punishment should be given to those who are involved in the supply chain of drugs in educational institutions.
