03 accused including Sarpanch involved in the incident have been arrested, raids are on to arrest others.

Punjab Police’s timely action saved the 08-year-old girl from being the victim of Wanni/ Badl e Sulah in Rajanpur. Following the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, fast paced operations under the Never Again campaign is continue across the province. Punjab Police is ensuring zero tolerance in gender based crimes and crime incidents against children such as violence, harassment and rape etc.

According to the details, the Rajanpur police received information that 08-year-old girl Kousar Bibi had been given in Wanni/Badl e Sulah to Nadeem s/o Faqeer Baksh resident of Mouza Tifli. Police took immediate action and recovered the girl, after medical examination she was handed over to her parents. This incident of Wanni/ Badl e Sulah happened in the context of another incident that happened a week ago.

A week ago cousin of the victim girl Kousar Bibi eloped a girl named Sania d/o Faqeer Baksh Gishgori and contracted marriage with her free will. Heirs of Sania started pressurizing victim family for Badl e Sulah, ultimately 7/8 yrs old girl was given in badl e sulah. Rajanpur police registered a case against 14 named accused in police station Dajal and ensured immediate action. 03 accused including Sarpanch involved in the incident were immediately arrested, raids are on to arrest more accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the other accused involved in the incident should be arrested as soon as possible and punished. Dr. Usman Anwar said that actions should be continued without delay under zero tolerance on all crimes including violence, harassment and abuse against women and children.
