Herbalist arrested in five women’s death case

TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad’s Garh police arrested herb seller Abdul Wahab on Sunday, from whom digestive powder (chhoran) was purchased, which allegedly caused the deaths of five women of a family in the locality of Jammu Basti on Saturday night. Complainant Mazhar said in his FIR that Wahab sold them poisonous powder, leading to the deaths of his wife and children. The deceased women were identified as complainant’s wife Shamim Bibi, 34, daughters Farzana, 3, Muskan, 8, and Rukhsana, 5, and her niece Aqsa, 4. Reports stated that all started vomiting blood and were first taken to a private hospital; however, later they were shifted to the DHQ hospital where they all expired.
